Local Theatre flies with traditional fairy tail, 'Peter Pan.'

I prefer a twist in the story rather than classics like Cinderella because they have more suspense in them.

Peter Pan will be coming to Derby Theatre over Christmas time this year. The theatre have cast professional actors, such as Esme Sears, Katherine Toy and Abby Wain, in their previous Christmas pantomimes so it is rumoured a talented and, possibly, star cast is going to be selected for Peter Pan this year. Derby has welcomed celebrities such as Dani Harmer in their past productions as well, raising anticipation with all ages.

The theatre is well known for taking a creative approach to directing traditional plays. Therefore, excitement is rising as theatre-goers wonder who the director is going to be for the pantomime and how they will adapt the children’s story to an on-stage production.

As the Arts scene grows in Derby city, theatre is becoming more and more popular and it’s important for directors to make unique performances on the stage to stand out. I asked young actor Antonio from Derby whether he prefers traditional takes on plays or for them to have a twist. He said ‘“I prefer a twist in the story because if it’s a classic like Cinderella, already know what’s going to happen. For example, most people know the story of Peter Pan so I think that a twist halfway through, will make people more interested in the play”.

The people of Derby are looking forward to more news on the production, which will be on the main theatre from the 2nd of December, 2017, through to the 6th of January, 2018. Tickets are available online or via telephone on 01332 593939.
