Could You Be A Doppelganger?

By: Sophie

"It is like looking in a mirror."

Ambra

A Doppelganger is also known as a “Twin Stranger”. This is when two people who are not related look identical. An example of Doppelgangers are Ambra and Jennifer. They are part of the “Twin Strangers” project, which seeks to unite lookalikes around the world. The co-founder of this project is Niamh Geaney. The project was launched in Ireland. They have already found two women that live an hour apart from each other.

"Your smiles are the same!"

Karen- Jennifer's mother

Ambra, who is 23 from North Carolina, recently travelled to Texas to meet 33 year old Jennifer and when they saw each other Jennifer said “It is like I am looking into a mirror”. This is because the facial similarities between the two women were outstanding. When Ambra met her she “did not want to take her eyes off her”. When the two women were meeting each other, Jennifer’s mother looked at them both and said “You are both my daughters. Your smiles are the same.”

Twin Strangers are constantly tracking down lookalikes. You may even be a Doppelganger. In April 2017, a pair of unrelated English doubles crossed paths in London by accident. Their facial features are so alike that even their best friends have trouble telling them apart.

You could find a doppelganger anywhere you go for example, a man on a plane who was going to Spain met his doppelganger because they were sitting next to each other by chance.

If you think there is someone in the world which is your lookalike you can go onto a website called twin strangers. All you have to do is put in a photo of you and if you have a lookalike somewhere in the world they can find it and you might be able to meet them. Celebrities have Doppelgangers. For example, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Do you want to be like them?

A survey had been conducted about if people know if a Doppelganger is? And if they had one in the world would they like to meet them? Everyone that was interviewed knew what a doppelganger was and most of them would like to see them if they had one in the world. The rest were not sure because it depends on where they live and how old they were.

Anyone with a doppelganger would be lucky because they have a friend for life especially if they were a similar age.
