Secondary School is a very important part in many children’s and teenagers lives. Education helps and teaches life skills that can be used at any age, though sometimes teenagers seem like they would prefer not to go to school. Why is this?

Is it the subjects? Is it the way they are being taught? Or is the early time they are acquired to wake every single morning – which is the biggest problem?

It has been scientifically proven that pre- teens and teenagers should wake up at around 9:00 for a better attitude and mind set. Did you know that 73% of those teenagers who report feeling unhappy, sad, or depressed also report not getting enough sleep at night and being excessively sleepy during the day ( affecting their grades). The later they wake up the more work and dedication they will put in their education. If we were to start school later it would give us time to wake up at 9:00 and be at school for 10:30 (a reasonable time to be present in time for lessons).

Delia- a Year 7, Age 12 from Littleover community school “When you wake up you usually have to do an enormous routine and then walk to school with barley no time, “she continues to say “It’s just so stressful. Most of the time I end up at school half asleep!”

Zanab- a Year 8, Age 12 from Littleover community school“I think we shouldn’t because after school some of us have club and also waking up early will prepare us for the future and our jobs when we are adults.”

Rachael-a parent “It’s good for teens because they don’t like getting out of bed. If you work or have more than one child it’s hard to juggle.”

In conclusion it appears that the majority of students prefer to wake up at 9:00 and be at school for 10:30. It will be better for their health and the way they look at learning. The majority of people would prefer if schools will take the amazing idea into consideration all student would be happier to attend school. The only problem with this though the school will start later and the school will finish later as well which could leave the student walking the dark but to prevent this we could have later buses for a cheaper price.
