			Pat Lyons-

Pat Lyons, the coach for the under 23 Derby County team, is hopeful for a promotion for the Rams by the end of the season.

Students from Littleover Community School spoke to the ex-professional footballer about his hopes for Derby County this season. He said that “after a win against Wigan yesterday, he hopes a promotion will happen”.

Pat is a local to the city; he went to is Saint Benedict School and played for Derby County Boys and later Burton Albion as a professional.

He also runs the soccer stars Academy with Darren Wassall. He played from a young age and loved it. He was released as a professional footballer and was gutted, but wanted to stay in the football world: “I looked for coaching and found the under 23s for Derby County.

He is clearly proud of his team: “Frank Lampard is a legend” and Mason Mount “is doing really well.”

The thing that impresses him most about young footballers is attitude, how they pick themselves up after a fall, as it shows “determination and resilience”.

The best player he has ever seen is Max Bird; he started at Aston Villa but has been coached by Pat from the age of nine.

If he wasn’t in the football world, then he would be a teacher at a secondary school teaching PE. He would teach football, cricket, basketball and handball.
