Welcome to French

As a department we are passionate about French and aim to foster a lifelong love of languages as students learn about the language and culture of the French speaking world.

The KS3 schemes of work are based on Dynamo 1, 2 and 3 for French with regular opportunities to develop skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Translation.

At GCSE pupils follow the Edexcel Studio course as well as a range of additional resources and language-learning websites. Students develop confidence and proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Translation skills. The department enjoys excellent results at GCSE.

At A Level students use the new Edexcel A Level Edexcel textbook linked to Hodder Boost online learning, as well as a wide range of authentic resources including films and books. Many students who have studied French have gone on to study the language further at university or use it in their future career.
