Students Returning to School
Welcome Back
Welcome back message from LCS Staff.
What students should expect when they come into school
These plans have been set up to keep everyone safe, please respect and cooperate with our expectations of you, so we can help keep you safe and healthy. These expectations are in addition to the Government advice on regular handwashing (for at least 20 seconds), using a tissue or the crook of your elbow if you sneeze (Catch it, Bin it, Kill it) and social distancing. You should not attend school if you have any symptoms of Covid-19- Each class will arrive and leave at different times. Keep to these times and keep 2m apart as you walk to and from school.
- Each class will be split into two or three rooms to allow for safe social distancing.
- You will receive details of which room to go to and your start time once we have the parent surveys back in, hopefully by Friday 12th June.
- Go straight to D, G or B Block when you arrive. Your teachers will direct you to your room and there will be hand sanitiser for you to use outside each room. You will be shown where to sit; you will sit in the same place for every lesson each time you come to school.
- You will be registered in your classroom. (There will not be a separate registration time)
- Bring your own pens, pencils etc and tissues. We will not lend out any equipment and you should not share with other students.
- Bring your English, Maths and Science exercise books each time you come to school (if you have them).
- You should stay in your seat at all times. Your teacher will dismiss you a few at a time when it is break or lunchtime.
- Each class will have its own allocated area for break time; you should not mix with other classes. You should keep 2m apart from each other. Physical contact is not allowed.
- Each class will finish at different times for lunch. If you wish to buy sandwiches at school these will be available in your ‘block’ ie G Block, B Block or the Dining Room. You should queue up 2m apart and take your food outside to eat. You may go straight home at the end of your lessons without staying to buy food. The Dining Room will not be open at break time. There will be hand sanitiser at each food outlet.
- You may wish to bring a bottle of water with you; the water fountains will be switched off
- You will use the toilets in your ‘block’ ie G block, B Block or by D7. Again you should queue 2m apart. The toilets will be staffed at break time to ensure just one person goes in at a time.
- Government advice is that you do not need to wear a face mask in school. If you choose to do so, it should be a disposable mask. If you wear a home-made mask, scarf or bandana you will be asked to remove it at the school gate and put it into a plastic bag in your school bag.
- Your ‘class’ will be your Science class. Mostly, you will be taught by your normal Science teachers, plus an English teacher and a Maths teacher who usually teach a set similar to yours. About half of you will have your normal English and Maths teachers. You will have either 4 or 5 lessons of 40/45 minutes. All your lessons will be in the same room and your teachers will come to you.
- The teachers will use this opportunity to either teach you new work, or to clarify and consolidate topics you have been doing on your own at home. Your normal English, Maths and Science teachers will set you work to do for the rest of the week. Your options subject teachers will continue to set work for you to do at home too.
- On your first morning you will be given more information about working safely in school.

Year 12 Return to School & Online Lessons
Year 12 Tutor Periods in School
Please make sure that you have read the general instructions for all students returning to school before you attend school for your allocated weekly tutor session.
Read the information below very carefully and make sure that you know when and where your tutor lesson will take place. Make sure you arrive at the allocated time for your group and use the allocated gate to ensure minimal contact with other students – make sure that you observe social distancing rules at all times when you are in school, on your way to school or on your way home from school.
When you arrive you must go directly to your allocated room (if you are in G block you should walk up the road to the right of the dining hall and not come through the school building) – do not go to S block or any other part of the school. Your tutor will be waiting for you when you arrive.
Lists of students to indicate if you are in Group A or Group B of your tutor group have been sent out to all Year 12 students via their school email accounts. We have included all students on this list even though we know that some of you have indicated that you will not be attending so that if you change your mind and decide you want to come in to school you know which group you are in.

Year 9 Work at Home
Year 9 Work from Monday 22nd June
We are making some changes to the way we set work for Year 9 students from Monday 22nd June till the end of term.
English, Maths, Science and Technology teachers will continue to set work as usual on Go4Schools. PSHE will set occasional work too.
All other subjects will stop setting work on G4S. Instead of this work, students should now focus on the subjects they have chosen for their GCSE options. Each options subject has put together a Pre-GCSE Module to help students prepare for their GCSE courses.
This work can be accessed through the school website in:
- Foldr
- Student resources
- (Choose subject)
- GCSE Prep Work for Year 9 during school closure
- (Choose subject)
- Student resources
This will provide about 2-3 hours work each week, for each options subject, till the end of term.
Teachers have also included links to their GCSE specification so that students can do additional research on topics of interest.
If you have any questions about this, please contact me at school.
Mrs Bunting.
