Real Life Russian Reality Hunger Games

By: Neave

It’s being called the real-life “Hunger Games”- a dangerous interactive, live streamed fight-for-your-life reality competition in Russia. Young Russian entrepreneur and Millionaire; Yevgeny Pyatkovsky has organized and is funding a game show called “Game2:Winter”. 30 participants, 15 men and 15 women, will compete against each other on a lone Serbian island by Ob River. Contestants will have to pay £130,000 just to enter or get voted in by viewers. All participants will have to sign a release in case they’re injured or die.

Just like in the original books by Suzanne Collins, contestants of the games will be awarded gifts by viewers or sponsors. But to take part you have to be over 18 and `sane’. The produces say that ` anything is allowed’, but that doesn’t put the contestants above the law, so they can face arrest for any crimes committed.

When the contestants arrive on the island 1st July 2017, they will have to get supplies, weapons and build themselves a shelter, then they can fight it out Katniss-style. Teams and couples are allowed to be formed and if there are two winners the prize fund of £1.3 million will be shared. They will face freezing temperatures of below -40C.

The show will be watched in real-time worldwide with a paid-subscription by viewers who can vote and fund a contestant. The production team will not intervene, no matter what. For safety reasons there will be a ground team and one or two helicopters for emergency situations. There will also be 2000 cameras all over the island, but this will not catch every detail.

Later on in the game, they will have to trach down a group of “criminals” who will be released from a nearby jail. Whoever catches the “criminals” gets a prize from a sponsor. Pyatkousky’s project has been in the works for several years and finally everything has come together.
