People protested against guns being given.

The student movement on Wednesday 14th March 2018 marked one month since the Parkland School shooting in Florida in America. The latest nationwide walkout was one to remember.

This walkout, bookmarking one month since 17 young lives were lost, was a major success and was reported to have a huge impact on surrounding onlookers. Many people stated that they felt as if they needed to do something to help. Multiple viewers joined in with the protest.

Teenagers from around the world, in places such as Colorado, New Mexico, California and Alabama, gathered together to score this dreadful occasion. People in foreign countries grouped in a circle linking arms and closing their eyes to think.

Hundreds of people lay outside the White House as a symbol of respect to those who were lost.

Over 200 people of all ages lay on the ground in silence for seventeen minutes to symbolize the 17 lives that were taken. This all took place in front of the White House to make a point of peace and protest. One protestor was yelling points against guns. An example of this is: “There are six-year-old dying in their schools, the one place they should feel safe, and you won’t recognise, that something needs to change.” This specific quote was then yelled over and over again to emphasise the stubbornness and defiance of the walkout.

Members of the group, Teens for Gun Reform, lay on the ground in another area for 3 minutes claiming that it symbolized how long it took to buy the rifle that was used for killing innocent victims. They held up signs with messages on them such as ‘Fear has no place in schools’ and ‘Love your kids not your guns’. They say that the protest is to stand in ‘solidarity with those in Florida’ and call for a gun reform in America.
