New facilities at Moorways swimming pool
By: Aadil
Derby people are getting excited as more information is revealed about the new plush pool due to open in just 2 years time!
The three-storey, silver and aluminium finish building will house the pool complex downstairs and on the ground will be a café, soft play area and treatment rooms. The upper floor will house a gym with up to 150 stations plus 3 studios and steam and sauna rooms. Additionally, there will be parking for 330 vehicles and dropping off points for coaches and buses bringing school children to swimming classes.
Derby City Council aims to build the centre on the site of the old Moorways swimming pool by 2020. The complex will include a 10-lane pool capable of staging regional competitions, as well as a water play area.
The cost for the whole project approximately £35 million and should, looking at the artist’s impression, look good day and night.
The Council have considered everything. They are looking to include a range of innovative energy saving technologies within the new swimming pool complex such as combined heat and power, advanced LED lighting and heat recovery systems as part of the ventilation.
