To all parents and carers,
Good morning, from LCS
This will be my final email update of the school year and my last as Headteacher of LCS.
Before I leave you with a final message, I have just a couple of important updates for you, as we approach the end of term.
End of term and school holidays
Term finishes at 1-40pm on Friday, 25th July. There will be a school bus at this time, for any students wishing to use it.
Students return for the start of the new Academic Year on Monday 8th September 2025, at the usual start time of 8-40am.
All Term dates for the new school year, as well as all INSET days, can be found on our school website, at
www.littleover.derby.sch.uk/parents/dates-events/term-dates
Our school website also contains important safeguarding information for the summer holidays, including how to report urgent safeguarding issues during school closure.

Career Mark Award
I am delighted to announce that Littleover Community School has been successful in gaining the Quality in Careers Standard, provided by the licensed awarded body, Complete - Careers.
We have been awarded the prestigious Platinum Award, in recognition of our Careers Education, Information and Guidance.
This achievement recognises the quality and breadth of our careers provision. We fully met all Benchmarks and the accreditation criteria and were highly praised for the opportunities we provide for our learners.
This is a fantastic award for the school and congratulations go to our Careers team, especially Mrs Oversby and Ms Thomas.
A final message from Mr Wilding
As I leave LCS, I would like to thank all parents, carers and our wider school community for your support of our students, our staff and our school.
Mr McElhone and I will speak to all students in Assemblies this week, to say goodbye and to wish them all well for the future. I hope all LCS students, both current and future, can go on to achieve their goals and ambitions, both in terms of academic success and also in their adult lives.
I am joined by several other staff who will also be leaving the school this term, some of whom have been at LCS for as long, and even longer, than myself. Staff leaving this term include Mr Neville and Mr Modhara, who both joined LCS way back in September 1989. Other long-serving staff leaving the school include Ms Came, Miss Doran and Mr McElhone.
I am sure you will join with me in wishing all our departing colleagues the best of luck for the future and, also, to thank them for their many years of service to our students and our school.
From a personal point of view, I feel I am leaving the school in a very strong position, despite the challenges we have faced over the past few years. I am happy to hand over to the capable hands of Mrs Johnson, who I have no doubt will take LCS on to become an even better and more successful school.
It has been an honour to serve the school as Headteacher for the last 6 years and previously as Deputy Headteacher and Head of Year. After 25 years, however, it is time for me to step aside and look for new challenges.
I wish all students, parents, carers and members of our wider school community a very happy, successful and safe future.
Best wishes.
J Wilding
