Welcome back...
January 2026
I would like to wish all our community members a Happy New Year. It has certainly been a busy couple of weeks on return from the Christmas break and the majority of our students have returned with an excellent attitude towards being back in school for the new calendar year. Already, our Year 13 students have completed their mock examinations, and the marking of those scripts has started; additionally, Year 11 students have been receiving the feedback and grades from the mock examinations taken before Christmas, in addition to completing Modern Foreign Language speaking examinations and, for some, attending a Geography field trip for their GCSE qualification. Lower down the school, our Year 9 Option Information Evening took place on Thursday 15 January and a huge thank you to the parents and carers who attended this event and listened to the presentations and spoke to teaching staff about the different GCSE choices on offer.
Within this update, you will also find important information about upcoming events and key messages regarding school life.
Learn
Rather excitingly at LCS, each Curriculum area has been given a tablet to capture student work on so that we can communicate, via social media, the high quality pieces being produced across the curriculum. Please look out for email correspondence regarding this in Parent Pay and do keep checking out the LCS Facebook or Instagram accounts to see the updates.
Care
I would like to thank parents and carers for their support during the school closure day on Friday 9 January, due to the snow. It is always an incredibly difficult decision to close a school, however a number of factors are considered, including the safety on site, the access routes into school and staffing ratios to ensure that supervision levels are correct. In the event of any further snow, please keep an eye on Parent Pay, the school website or the LCS Facebook page for updates.
Succeed
In order to support students in making successful choices about their behaviour and conduct, the school has launched its “Reset Room” this half term, which will function as a space to support students in regulating their emotions and for restorative conversations to take place. In other news, a huge congratulations to Jacob Clarke in Year 13, whose composition has been selected to contribute towards the Holocaust Memorial Trust Day in London- a fantastic achievement.
