Jewellery

• Religious symbols such as a small cross or crucifix on a thin chain, or a lightweight Kara are permitted for religious reasons. Chains should not be on show and should be worn underneath the polo-shirt.

• One plain wrist band/bracelet only may be worn on each wrist.

• Rings should not be worn.

• Earrings are not allowed, except for one simple, small stud per ear. No other body piercings are permitted; this includes nose piercings, nose retainers or plasters to conceal nose studs.

Make-Up and Hairstyle

• Extreme hairstyles are not acceptable. This includes the use of bright or unnatural colours, shaved heads, or patterns/lines shaved into hair or eyebrows.

• Make-up is not allowed.

• False eyelashes are not allowed.

• Nail varnish is not allowed.

• Acrylic nails are not allowed.

• Translucent pimple patches are permitted; however, customised or coloured shapes are not permitted.

• Students who cycle to school must wear an appropriate safety helmet. • Headgear worn for religious reasons, or as protection against the sun during hot weather, must be plain in colour.

If students have worn the above jewellery items or hair and make-up styles during the summer holidays, parents and carers should ensure those items are addressed and resolved in line with the ‘Uniform Policy’ before students return to school on Tuesday 8th September 2026.

General •

• The LCS logo on the polo-shirt and/or jumper must be visible at all times in the classroom.

• Outdoor coats and bags must not carry offensive or divisive symbols or slogans.

• Garments covering the face, e.g. balaclavas, neck warmers or veils, should not be worn.

• Outdoor clothing e.g. coats, scarves, gloves, lightweight jackets and hoodies should not be worn in lessons. Hoodies and sweatshirts are not to be used instead of the black school sweatshirt.

As the ‘Uniform Policy’ indicates, instances where the expectations above are not met will be managed through the ‘Inclusion, Relationships and Behaviour Policy’. Students will be instructed to remove any items listed above. Failure to do this will result in escalation of sanction as per the ‘Inclusion, Relationships and Behaviour Policy’ and treated as a deliberate choice to ignore a reasonable school instruction.

Essential Equipment

Students should come prepared for their learning each day, ensuring they have a strong backpack to carry their belongings in. For their lessons, students should have several black and blue pens, pencils, a ruler, rubber, coloured pencils and a purple pen for ‘response to feedback’, within a pencil case. For lessons where use of mathematical equipment is required, students should have a scientific calculator, angle measurer and compass. Additionally, students should bring in their aprons when they have Technology and/ or Art.

Each day, students should have their planner; whilst homework is recorded on Go 4 Schools, the planner contains a student’s timetable and so should be brought in each day. Students should also be encouraged to bring in a refillable water bottle. Some students will require parental or guardian support to arrange their equipment; as a result, the school would strongly recommend setting aside a specific time each evening to go through your child’s timetable and ensure that they are fully organised for the days ahead. Additionally, printing off a copy of your child’s timetable and displaying it clearly within the house will support your child in considering the different demands of their school week.

Standards and Student Conduct

The ‘Inclusion, Relationships and Behaviour Policy’ and ‘The LCS Way’ underpin the high expectations we have of student behaviour within the school. As we begin a new academic year, it is a fresh start for all students and an opportunity to demonstrate the best of themselves. The reward systems within the school will be utilised to acknowledge where students are meeting and surpassing ‘The LCS Way’ in their day-to-day conduct and we look forward to recognising such achievements. Inevitably, some students will make mistakes, and those incidents will be managed through the graduated response section of the ‘Inclusion, Relationships and Behaviour Policy’. The recording of both positive and negative points can be seen by parents on Go 4 Schools. Ultimately, students should understand their responsibility in working co-operatively within and outside of lessons, demonstrate courtesy and common sense when travelling to and from and whilst on the school site, so that they show high levels of self-discipline and tolerance.

The achievements of the outgoing Year 11 and 13 cohorts are in part, due to the fact, that they have benefitted from a safe, orderly and calm learning environment. It is essential that all students play their part in showing their willingness to learn, care and succeed through showing respect to school staff, following instruction and seeking support where required.

The school continues to be free of student mobile phones and personal electronic devices, including smart watches, from Year 7 to Year 11. The school takes the view that such devices act as a potential distraction from learning and can disrupt the safety of school life. Any student, found to be in possession of a mobile phone or other prohibited device, will have it confiscated.
