Headteacher Update April 2025

April 28th, 2025 | 3 minute read

Headteacher

JNW

Good morning, from LCS.

My first email update of the Summer Term includes brief items on:

Deputy Headteacher appointment
INSET Day and Term Dates
GCSE and A Level exams
Access to school site and local roadworks

Deputy Headteacher appointment

I am pleased to announce that, after a thorough appointment process and interviews towards the end of Spring Term, Mr Alistair Goodhead has been appointed as Deputy Headteacher at LCS, from 1st September 2025.

Mr Goodhead is an experienced school leader and is currently Assistant Headteacher at Derby Cathedral School.

I firmly believe that with the appointment of Mr Goodhead, together with the appointment of Mrs Johnson as our new Headteacher and the strength of the existing Senior Management Team at LCS, the school is in a strong position to move to the next stage of its development and improvement.

INSET Day and Term Dates

A reminder to all parents and carers that school is closed to students on Wednesday 30th April, for staff INSET.

Half-term ends on Friday 23rd May and Summer Term will end on Friday 25th July.

All term dates and INSET days can be seen on our website, at

www.littleover.derby.sch.uk/parents/dates-events/term-dates

GCSE and A level Exams

We are now at the start of the summer exam series, for both GCSE and A Levels. Exams in Creative Arts and Languages have already taken place and the main period of GCSE and A level exams will start within the next few weeks.

Firstly, I would like to pass on the best wishes of all LCS staff to our Y11 and Y13 students who will be taking exams this year. We appreciate that exams are a stressful experience for students, and we will support all our Y11 and Y13 as best we can, to achieve their goals.

Parents and carers of students in Y11 and Y13 can find all relevant information related to exams on our website, at

www.littleover.derby.sch.uk/parents/exams

Access to school site and local roadworks

I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents/carers that access to school site for all visitors should be through the Pastures Hill entrance/exit only. Parents/carers should not attempt to access school through the Fresco Drive entrance, as this is not open for visitors or vehicles.

Parents/carers arriving at Fresco Drive entrance requesting access to the school site, will be asked to walk/drive to the main school entrance, at Pastures Hill.

There are currently significant, ongoing roadworks in the area of Burton Road and Warwick Avenue. Although this is some distance away from school, these works are causing issues with traffic, particularly at busy times.

I have also spoken to the manager of the works, regarding concerns of students safety when crossing Warwick Avenue. If you are a parent/carer of a child who will walk this way to/from school, I would be grateful if you could stress to them the importance of crossing the road safely, and only in the designated crossing areas.

Thank you for your continued support of our school, our students and our staff.

Keep safe.
