Headteacher Update - June 2025

June 2nd, 2025 | 3 minute read

JNW

Good morning, from LCS.

My first update of this half-term includes brief items on:

Eid
Free activity sessions from Sporting Communities
Extra-Curricular Activities
Term Dates

Eid

With Eid al-Adha falling on Friday 6th June, we will authorise 1 day of absence as Religious Observance, for students celebrating this festival. For this absence to be authorised, a form must be completed and returned by the end of Thursday 5th June.

As in the past, 1 school day of absence only will be authorised.

For students in Year 11 and Year 13, any GCSE and/or A Level exams on 6th June will go ahead, as these are formal public exams and dates/times of exams are out of the schools’ control. Students with exams on 6th June must attend for these.

A separate email has been sent to all parents/carers with the link to the Absence Request Form, but I have attached the link again, below, for any parents/carers who have not seen the separate message.

Free activity sessions from Sporting Communities

Sporting Communities are running free activity sessions every Monday from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at The Haven Christian Centre, Hollybrook Way, Littleover.

The sessions are open for young people aged 8-16.  All you have to do is complete a consent form prior to arriving; the link to this form is below:

www.sportingcommunitiescic.org/consent-form

For more information please contact: lemar@sportingcommunitiescic.org

Extra-Curricular Activities

As I mentioned in my previous email update, we would like to encourage as many students as possible to take part in one of our extra-curricular activities and clubs this half-term, particularly if they have not done so in the past.

Details of all activities and clubs are on our school website, at the address below.

 Term Dates

This half-term is the final one of the academic year, but at 8 weeks is also the longest. Term will finish on Friday 25th July, at the earlier time of 1-40pm.

To help parents/carers plan ahead for future holidays, future term dates can be found on our school website, at the address below:

Thank you for your continued support of our school, our students and our staff.

Keep safe.
