Headteacher Update - Nov 2025

November 14th, 2025 | 3 minute read

Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the second half term is now underway, I am writing to share some information about recent events at Littleover Community School; to provide some key messages and inform you about upcoming events.

Updates

The students who went on the Berlin trip before half term returned, having experienced a full and varied itinerary; on behalf of the students who benefitted from the trip, I would like to extend a huge thank you to the staƯ who organised and enabled this trip to take place. Students have also benefitted from the Maths Inspiration trip, and their conduct is to be commended; reports from staƯ in attendance indicated that our students were a credit to Littleover Community School.

On Thursday 13th November, we hosted our Year 11 Parents’ Evening via School Cloud; we had 85% of the cohort book appointments, so a huge thank you to those parents and carers who used the opportunity to support your child’s progress. We are really hoping for over 90% attendance at future Parents Evening events.

Finally, you may have seen on Littleover Community School’s social media platforms, that the school was awarded an FFT National School Attendance Award for 2024-2025, placing the school in the top 10% of all FFT Secondary Schools in England. This is a really significant achievement, and I want to extend my gratitude to parents and carers, who are supporting their children in attending well, each and every day, as well as the pastoral staƯ who are deeply committed to having students in school, learning, every day.

Messages

As the weather gets colder and wetter, parents and carers should ensure that their child has an appropriate coat and footwear for school. Guidance about acceptable items is within the school’s uniform policy.

On a similar note, please be mindful of appropriate parking etiquette when picking up students from the school on days where the weather is unpleasant. We need a route for emergency vehicles to get through and more importantly, for our students to be able to leave the site safely.

We are really trying to relay the importance of good time keeping and tackle any late to school or late to lesson marks. Please can I ask parents and carers to be encouraging high levels of punctuality and checking your child’s Go 4 Schools routinely in terms of positives and negative points to inform appropriate discussions with your child.

Events

  • Year 7 Settling in Evening from 4.15-6.45pm on Thursday 20th November.

  • Year 11 Mock Interviews on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th November.

  • INSET day on Monday 1st December.

  • Year 13 Parents Evening from 4.15 until 6.45pm, via School Cloud, on Thursday 4th December.

  • The GCSE certificate evening, which was due to take place, will no longer be going ahead. Year 12 students at Littleover Community School will receive any certificates via assembly and students who no longer attend Littleover Community School will have the opportunity to collect their certificates at a future date to be confirmed.

Many Thanks

Mrs L Johnson Headteacher
