Headteacher Update- September 2025

September 12th, 2025 | 4 minute read

Headteacher

Good afternoon,

It has been our privilege to welcome students and staff back after the summer break. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our Year 7 students and their families and any Year 12 students who have joined the Sixth Form. Having achieved such strong results in the summer, both staff and students are showing good levels of enthusiasm for the year ahead.

The term has started well, with all year groups receiving assemblies on return to welcome them back and remind students about the importance of the LCS Way, Behaviour, Rewards, Attendance and Uniform policies and procedures. As I stated in my summer correspondence, these policies remain unchanged and can be found on the school website.

The majority of our students have had a successful return, following the LCS Way, through observance of the policies mentioned above. Please use Go 4 Schools as a means of checking how well your child is doing, based on the positive points they have been awarded from staff since the beginning of the year. Issues with this software earlier on in the week, should have been resolved and parents should find they can access Go 4 Schools for a range of information. For our Year 7 parents, if you have not yet explored this tool, please follow the link here: Go4Schools

I would kindly remind parents that those polices (Behaviour, Attendance and Uniform) are available on the school website and parents should familiarise themselves with each of the critical documents to support their child(ren), in understanding how LCS works in partnership with parents in terms of the expectations of school life.

Many of our students have returned in the correct uniform as published in the school’s policy. However, I need to reiterate the jewellery section of the policy, which states that other than one simple, small stud or sleeper in each ear, no other forms of body piercings, including nose piercings, are permitted.

Furthermore, skirts should be of a practical length; examples of practical skirts are on page three of the uniform policy.

Make-up and nail varnish, including acrylics, are not allowed in any year group from 7-11.

Parental support with this means that staff can spend their time and energy focussed on academic and pastoral support, rather than the time that is sometimes undertaken in dealing with these issues.

Key Dates and whole school events

Many thanks to the Year 12 parents and carers who attended our Year 12 Parent Information Evening.

  • Sixth Form Open Evening, from 5.30-7.30pm on Thursday 16th October.

Parking at the end of the school day.

Unfortunately, the school has received complaints from residents on Pastures Hill about the parking at the end of the school day. It is important that parking on this very busy road, from both a traffic and pedestrian perspective, is considerate and safe. There have been times this week, when the parking would have prevented emergency service vehicles from getting access to the school site. Please ensure that you take extra care when parking and discuss with your child an appropriate pick-up point that would allow for sensible distribution of parking along the main road.

To conclude on a personal note, I would like to thank students and parents for the warmth and kindness they have shown this week; it has been an absolute pleasure to experience. Thank you for your continued support of our school, our students and staff.

Kind Regards,

Mrs L Johnson
